Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Miss USA Is On The Menu!

June 17, 2011

The "Miss USA" pageant is this Sunday in Las Vegas. It's sure to be a hearty serving of glitz, glam and bikini-clad beauties.

Who can resist this sweet treat? I know I will tune in to see who will be representing my home state of Michigan and of course indulge in a moment of catty watercooler chat of 'can you believe she wore that?'

To wet your appetite for this Sunday's competition on NBC, Healthy Hollywood's Fab Food Friday is straying from its usual fare of diet/nutrition and serving up the dish on contestants' secrets to looking fabulous. After all, who knows more about beauty and insider tips than these girls – some of whom have been competing for beauty titles their whole life.

A few of the Miss USA competitors took time out of their crazy schedule this week in Las Vegas to share their favorite tips with Healthy Hollywood.

2011 Miss USA Contestants' Beauty & Wellness Secrets:

Miss Connecticut USA keeps her skin soft by using a homemade body scrub, made from used coffee grounds, sugar, and olive oil.

Miss Delaware USA keeps her swimsuit in place by using gymnasts "butt glue" on her behind.

Miss Georgia USA uses Visine for eyes to minimize redness from pimples.

Miss Mississippi USA puts Preparation H on her stomach and wraps it in Saran Wrap before bed to take down the swelling. She takes it off in the morning and has a slim pageant ready stomach.

Miss Illinois USA puts chilled green tea bags under her eyes to reduce puffiness.

Miss Colorado USA puts toe separators on each night to realign her feet from wearing heels all day.

Miss Hawaii USA chews each bite of her food 10 – 30 times to release nutrients and keep her healthy.

Miss Nebraska USA sprays her body with PAM to give her extra shine for photographs.

Miss New York USA stops her dessert craving by brushing her teeth right after dinner. The clean, minty taste makes her not want sweets anymore!

Miss Virginia USA drinks hot water with lemon in it each morning. It is healthier than coffee and is a natural diuretic.

Miss Kentucky USA and Miss West Virginia USA both use glue for hair extensions to put on false eyelashes so they last the longest amount of time possible.

Miss Minnesota USA swears by Liquid BAND-AID to protect her feet from the wear and tear of pumps and stilettos.

Miss Montana USA walks on her treadmill in high heels to get her feet and legs pageant ready.

Miss North Dakota USA uses window tape to keep her clothes in place. She says it is ten times stronger and half the price of double-sided fashion tape.

Miss Louisiana USA stays fit by eating five small meals a day instead of three large meals!

Miss California USA has a quick fix for those unwanted pimples. Before bed she uses Clean and Clear Advantage Plus and puts an Activ-Flex BAND-AID over it. In the morning the pimple is gone.

Miss Rhode Island USA struts up and down the stairwells in her gym wearing stilettos after her daily workout.

Miss Maine USA puts ice packs on her face at night to reduce puffiness.

Miss Alaska USA eats every two hours and has protein with every meal to build muscle.

Miss South Carolina USA drinks 4 oz. water every 30 minutes to burn calories and stay hydrated.

Miss Vermont USA makes sure to include enough protein in her diet to build muscle by eating 5 – 6 eggs a day.
