Military Officers in Aceh Break Record for Massive Traditional Dance

Banda Aceh. More than 2,500 Indonesian military officers from Aceh's Military Regional Command, or Kodam Iskandar Muda, broke the record for massive Saman dancing, according to the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).

The record-breaking attempt was conducted at Blang Padang field in Banda Aceh on Wednesday.

Saman is a traditional dance from Aceh's Gayo Lues district to celebrate cultural ceremonies. The dance was created by a prominent Islamic scholar in Gayo named Syekh Saman.
