President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says there should be no more doubts about Pancasila being the country’s basic ideology.

“Let us stop all the debate about Pancasila being our nation’s basic ideology, because doing so will be counterproductive and historically not correct,” Yudhoyono said during his speech at the birth of Pancasila commemoration ceremony at the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Yudhoyono said he hoped the spirit of the Pancasila ideology would continue to inspire the current and future leaders of the country.

The ceremony is to commemorate the speech of Megawati's father and Indonesia's first president, Sukarno, which gave birth to the country's ideology known as Pancasila.
