TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta:The Surakarta Municipality will build a site near Banjarsari for tourists who want to study about history. There are currently two monuments depicting the fight for independence of the Surakarta people. "We will build a museum in this location,” said Surakarta Mayor, Joko Widodo, after officially launching the Major Achmadi Monument on Saturday.
According to Joko, not too many people are aware of the history of the four-day war in Surakarta. Yet, it was one of the most intensive struggles to affect the Dutch troops from Surakarta during the II Military Aggression period.
