Your Summer Reading List Just Got Crazier

Looking for a hot scandal-ish read to crack on the beach this weekend? Tamar Cohen's debut novel, The Mistress's Revenge, is the juiciest book we've read in ages and its subject matter is particularly intriguing at a time when a high profile man is busted cheating nearly every week. Cohen's protagonist, Sally, had an affair with married Clyde for five years, but he dumped her in order to refocus on his wife and kids. The novel looks at the unraveling of a mistress scorned, reveling in the fascinating, disturbing, and, well, kind of entertaining ways in which "an otherwise sane woman" can go a wee bit coo-coo-bananas when her heart has been broken. If you've ever been brutally dumped and, say, daydreamed about keying his car -- or worse! -- this book will both titillate and calm those urges. Think "Fatal Attraction" in book form. Sharp, funny writing -- not to mention an unexpected twist at the end -- make The Mistress's Revenge the ultimate summer page-turner.
