"I had this idea, and then I started whining about it more and more until it happened," says the uncannily poised Audrey Banks, who is 17 and a student at Bard High School. The result is the Teen Art Gallery, for which she's curated photographs (including Allegra Sussman's Helicopter, pictured), paintings, and sculptures by 41 artists who aren't old enough to drink bad Chardonnay at the gallery opening. Surprisingly, given the documentary habits of this generation, there's no video art here. Why is that? "There was one piece submitted," she says, "but it wasn't a fully developed work." Do you have the feeling we're all going to be working for her someday?
